One wide suede band across the forefoot, cut broad on purpose so the hold spreads across the whole instep rather than pressing into a single line. We choose fabric by weight and density, not by season. A knit has to hold up in November, in February, on the first morning the frost stays all day. That is the only test we apply.
Winter clothing is hard to judge from a photograph. Weight, drape, how a collar sits against the neck. You only really know once it is on and you are standing outside in it.
